Wait. Are Taylor and Katy About to Collab?

The drama between Katy Perry and Taylor Swift has been huge news this year, and by no means is it over yet. From Perry stealing Swift’s back up dancers, to Swift speculating that the massive hit, ‘Bad Blood’ off her 1989 album was about Katy, this weekend seemed to shed some light on the situation.

Over Twitter, Katy decided to share her feelings towards Swift by saying she would collaborate with Taylor, “if she apologies first.”

But what has Taylor Swift got to be sorry for exactly?

We look back through their Bad Blood feud to try and work it out.

2008/2009: Mad Love

In July 2009, the two seem very friendly with Swift admiring Perry’s ‘Waking up in Vegas’ video and Perry suggesting they should collab on her next record. Seen at the VMA’s and other award ceremonies, how could this end up going so wrong?

2010/2012: Boys

Everyone knows in 2010 Taylor Swift dated musician John Mayer and wrote quite the break-up song about him called ‘Dear John’, on her Speak Now record. In 2012, Katy Perry briefly dated John Mayer also, before hooking up with him a couple of years later. Is this where things were starting to go a little pear shaped?

2012/2013: Back-up Dancers

Things are now 100% pear shaped. It is alleged that Katy Perry stole backing dancers from Taylor Swift’s ‘Red’ tour in 2012 to join her 2013 ‘Prism’ tour. But one of the dancers who worked with both pop princesses says that, that was not the case. The dancers that were said to be stolen by Swift, worked with Katy Perry before and decided that Swift’s tours were getting quite boring, as there wasn’t much dancing involved for them. So when the opportunity to dance for Katy Perry’s tour instead of Swift’s, they took up the offer. Seems fair enough, right? Wonder why Taylor unfollowed all the dancers on Twitter then?

2014: The Media

2014 was the first time people were beginning to suspect Taylor’s feud with Katy. In Taylor’s Rolling Stone interview Swift made it clear that ‘Bad Blood’ was about a very well-known music artist, making it very clear that her and the individual were “straight up enemies”. Strong words Taylor. She also told Rolling Stone,

She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational – you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”

2014: The Retaliation

The very next day after Taylor’s Rolling Stone article was published, Perry was straight on Twitter saying, “Look out for Regina George in sheep’s clothing…”

Taylor whenever asked about the situation with Katy declared she would never talk about her in interviews ever again.

Early 2016: Over and done with?

It seemed in that in 2016, the feud may actually be over. Katy invited Taylor on her A-List guest list to her private pre-Grammy’s party. It may have been a feud lasting 6 years…But, oh no, then came along Mr Harris.

Summer 2016: Calvin Harris

After her break-up with Calvin Harris, which is a completely different feud in itself, he tweeted, I know you’re off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I’m not that guy, sorry. I won’t allow it.”  Katy soon replied with a GIF of Hilary Clinton, so it seemed the blood is still bad after all.

NOW: APOLOGIES

And again, taking to Twitter to vocalise her feelings, Perry tweets a fan claiming that she would collaborate with Swift is she “apologies first”.

Will Swift rise up and apologise? Or has Katy just opened a whole other can of worms?
