Rapper Being Sued By Major Fashion Brand

‘You’re only 160 years late on your name’- TMZ

The Southern District of New York filed a lawsuit on the 26th July on behalf of the fashion house Burberry, against American rapper, Burberry Perry. According to Fashionista, Burberry has always worked closely with the music industry. They created a platform to showcase new acoustic talent and was the first fashion brand to have their own channel on Apple Music. The concern is related to Perry’s music benefiting from the British fashion brand’s name.

The artist, real name Perry Moise, has been party to trademark infringement after repurposing the company’s name and iconic logo for his own benefit. Just take a look at the case below and cast your own judgement…

Burberry provided this statement for British Vogue:

“As a global luxury brand, Burberry considers the protection of its intellectual property vital for the health of its business and to safeguard its customers. As such, Burberry goes to great lengths to protect its creative designs and will take all necessary action against the abuse of Burberry trademarks.”

It’s reported by TMZ, Perry was contacted numerously over the past month by Burberry’s legal team with no response. On Wednesday, the rapper did announced the change of his name. Hello, THEGOODPERRY.

To celebrate the debut of his new name, THEGOODPERRY, he posted a Soundcloud link to a new track. Moise ironically penned the track ‘Blueberry’. Creative.
