5 Women’s Fashion Trends In Spring 2016

Backstage at OSKLEN during New York Fashion Week Spring Summer 2015 Collections

It’s a huge time in the women’s fashion world with the bi-annual event of Fashion Week approaching, there are whispers about what will be seen stalking down the runway in London later this month.

While the big names will showcase the styles that will be dominating Autumn/Winter 2016, we will inform you of what trends should be seen this Spring. Spring is an interesting season for women’s fashion due to the optimistic dreams of summer heading our way and wanting to shred off that coat, but still we must remain aware of the chilly climate.

Leather

Unexpectedly leather is a huge trend to look forward to this Spring, it’s not common for leather to take centre stage during the Spring/Summer seasonings. As seen above in Paris they were keen to wear the looks as co-ords incorporating different textures of leather (a personal favourite is the matte leather). There is something extremely seductive about leather even though it hangs off a body in an almost androgynous fashion, it amplifies femininity in a way that should most likely destroy it. Some of the other best classic biker-style-esque pieces belong to Fendi’s Spring collection 2016.

One of the byproducts from the huge Seventies trend that took over fashion world last year is the cold-shoulder. This Spring it’s all about revealing a bit of shoulder and showing off a little collarbone, once again it’s weather-friendly with not too much skin on show. The Bridget Bardot style has stuck while the cheeky cut-out shoulder has joined the trend in full fashion, for example, Trina Turk’s collection.

Yes, you heard it right. Last year’s seventies trend has a little sister that is coming back out to play, the 90s are back in full force. This revival has taken over the fashion world, for instance, there’s the 90s Grunge trend which is being beautifully represented with Saint Laurent. The nineties are all about embracing quirkiness mixed with the clashing materials and patterns, it’s fun and doesn’t take itself too seriously, you just have to roll with it.  We’re welcoming loose fits, low-slung pants and even bucket hats! However, let’s just remember we’re not children anymore, we don’t get dressed by our parents and we can take advantage of this nostalgic trend and make the nineties ours once again.

The White Shirt

This is personally one of the most welcomed trend this Spring, everyone has white shirt hiding in the back of their wardrobe and there is no better time than now to get it out! The Oxford shirt redux is so simple and gives off an effortless, comfortable vibe. Now it’s back it needs to be refreshed, so once again we see that Monse incorporated the off-the-shoulder styling, the piece also includes a little trend that’s in; the tie up. The update is all about deconstructing an average shirt, the best part is it’s inexpensive!

An interesting styling choice was brought to the runway in New York the pyjama trend. You couldn’t have missed Kendall Jenner flying into Paris last week wearing her PJ ensemble, the whole trend is a versatile mix of comfort and sophistication. Once again Calvin Klein bought back the nineties slip dress vibes, made famous by Kate Moss, not many people can make sheer slip dresses on par with CK but take a peak at Celine’s range! We’ve been seeing a lot of athleisure trend over the past six months and the next six months looks to hold the rise of the pyjama.
